The Leader approach is a delivery mechanism under the Rural Development Programme for England (RDPE). It uses local knowledge to promote an integrated “bottom up”, community-led delivery of RDPE funding. In England it is being implemented by Local Action Groups and is targeted on rural areas with particular needs or priorities.
In January 2014 the Tomato Stall completed a project to install a new smoking facilities to enable increased production of our popular Oak Roasted Tomatoes. This project was enabled by partial funding from Defra as part of the Leader approach, managed by the IW Local Action Group and coordinated by Natural Enterprise.
The facility will allow us to supply more customers throughout the UK and create jobs throughout 2014 as production increases.
